Who's Who in Virginia's Long Term Care Facilities
Mrs. Kathleen Nunn Walker
- Back
Mrs. Kathleen Nunn Walker has spent most of her 97 years in service
to others. Early in her marriage Mrs. Walker’s husband lost his arm in
an accident, so she entered beautician school to support her family. She
went on to be successful in many jobs, including writing for a
newspaper, beautician, dress shop owner, bridal director, encyclopedia
salesperson, and others.
Mrs. Walker has always loved politics. She was in her early 80s when she served four years on City Council and was elected Mayor of Clarksville. In 1991, she received the award for Citizen of the Year. Although she is remembered for many great accomplishments, it will probably be her three terms of serving as Mayor that she is most remembered. Though she has received walls full of plagues and trophies, her greatest recognition award was the Lifetime Achievement Award that she received from the town of Clarksville.
Mrs. Walker is a resident at Somerset Assisted Living in South Boston, Virginia where she has resided since 2003.
