Who's Who in Virginia's Long Term Care Facilities
Montana Clubb
- Back
Montana Clubb, six years old, was born six weeks early. He developed
an e-coli infection in his large intestine which caused swelling around
his brain, his organs to shut down and his bowel to perforate four short
days after his birth. The infection kept Montana in the newborn
intensive care unit for five months and required three surgeries to
eventually remove most of his large intestine. Montana was diagnosed
with cerebral palsy, microcephaly, developmental delay and seizure
disorder. As home care became more difficult for his family, Montana was
admitted to the Children’s Hospital Transitional Care Unit (TCU).
Montana’s opportunities have increased since coming to the TCU. He has been to the beach, played indoor soccer and attended his siblings’ skating birthday parties with assistance from TCU staff. Montana is also able to communicate using an assistive technology device with his brother’s recorded voice allowing Montana to say hello.
Montana Clubb is a resident at the Children’s Hospital Transitional Care Unit in Richmond where he has resided since February 2008.
