Ms. Eunis T. SaundersMs. Eunis T. Saunders, 81 years old, is a very sweet natured lady who has a very interesting background of teaching.

She graduated from Huddleston High School and received her bachelor’s degree in education from Madison College (now known as James Madison University). She began her teaching career and over the next 35 years taught government classes at Stanton River High School. In addition to teaching government, she was the senior class representative; taking charge in activities for homecoming and prom. She was notoriously known by her students as a “very difficult but a very good teacher.” Her students appreciated her and thought very highly of her teaching.

Ms. Saunders retired from teaching in 1988. She received the “Teacher Hall of Fame” award from Stanton River High School after she retired.

For the majority of her life Ms. Saunders taught Sunday school at her church, Morgan’s Baptist Church. Many of her students continue to send Ms. Saunders cards and letters throughout the year. She has made a lasting impression on many of her students and her face lights up whenever you ask her about her days of being a teacher. She stated, “I was a pretty good teacher.”

Ms. Eunis T. Saunders is a resident at Bedford County Nursing Home where she has resided since January 2009.
