Mrs. Elinor H. BradfordMrs. Elinor H. Bradford, 94 years old, is an award winning poet and, at one time, was secretary of the West Virginia State Poetry Society. Many of her works were published in the local paper.

She has volunteered for the 4-H Club, Girl Scouts, local church and elementary school. She was the President of Scott’s Run Settlement House which is a church-operated volunteer service. She was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution for over 50 years. After graduating from West Virginia University in 1959, she became a reading teacher in Monongalia Public Schools. Ahead of the times in valuing education for women, Mrs. Bradford completed her college education at the same time as her children.

Her home was always open to others after the opening of the West Virginia Medical Center. She hosted many family members that were short and long term patients.

Mrs. Bradford’s philosophy of life is “so as we trudge toward the sunset with determined legs of lead, the youth beneath the surface skips merrily on ahead.”

Mrs. Bradford is a resident at Richfield Memory Care and Enrichment Center in Salem where she has resided since June 2007.
