Mrs. Kathleen Elkin (Dinneen) Brown

Mrs. Kathleen Elkin (Dinneen) Brown, 90 years old, was born and
raised in Atlanta where she studied ballet and progressed to teaching
ballet and ballroom dancing in high school.
She worked as a bank teller following graduation and was recruited by Southern Railways to represent Georgia as a hostess on their new train lines in the South. She moved to Southern’s headquarters in Washington, DC in 1940 where she met her husband and started a family.
Mrs. Brown did formal and photographic modeling for advertising agencies and department stores in Washington. She opened her ballet school in Alexandria in 1948 and joined Dance Masters of America and the Cecchetti Council of America. She received 50 year honorary awards from both organizations in 1998. Ms. Brown taught, coached and judged ballet until her retirement in 2003.
Mrs. Brown is a resident at Hidden Springs Senior Living, LLC in Bentonville where she has resided since 2008.
