Mr. Paul DukovichMr. Paul Dukovich, 95 years old, was born in Boone, Iowa, one of 16 children. When he was a year old, the family moved to Pittsburg, Pennsylvania where he grew up.

As a young man, he moved to Aliquippa, Pennsylvania to work in the steel mill, where he retired in 1979 after working 43 years with Jones and Laughlin Steel Corporation. During this period, he married his wife in 1939. Married 69 years, they had three daughters and one son.

Mr. Dukovich is a World War II Veteran, having joined the United States Navy in 1943 and was a member of the initial crew of the United States Landing Ship, LSM-88. He participated in combat operations in the Pacific Theatre, in the Philippines and the Battle of Okinawa. Mr. Dukovich was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Asiatic Pacific with one star and the Philippines Liberation Medal. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1946 as a Motor Machinist Mate Second Class Petty Officer.

He is a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 3577 of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania and the United States Navy Memorial Foundation. Mr. Dukovich is also a member of the Saint Elijah Serbian Orthodox Church of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania.

Mr. Paul Dukovich is a resident at The Summit Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lynchburg where he has resided since February 2005.
