- Back

Reverend Thomas Edgar WrightReverend Thomas Edgar Wright, 85 years old, grew up in Elon, North Carolina. World War II broke out when Rev. Wright was a teenager. Having a deep love for his country, he joined the United States Air Force where he soon learned just how hard boot camp was and how much the United States Air Force required of him.

Rev. Wright served as a radio operator on a B-17 bomber with the 15th Air Force Brigade in Italy and the 8th Air Force Brigade in England during World War II in the European Theatre. He successfully flew 30 missions over Germany and surrounding areas. Rev. Wright was presented with the Purple Heart and a Distinguished Flying Cross, but not until 52 years after his military service. This delay was due to a fire that destroyed his military records.

After returning from military service, Rev. Wright had a personal calling to become a minister and enrolled in Elon University. He served as the Pastor of the Keen Street Baptist Church in Danville, Virginia for 22 years.

Reverend Wright is a resident at Roman Eagle Memorial Home, Inc. in Danville where he has resided since April 2009.
