The Foundation

- Contributor Form: PDF | Online

CWLTCF LogoThe Foundation was chartered in May of 1997 and is the designated repository for all private and corporate philanthropy. The Foundation is non-profit and organized to receive and manage contributions. The Foundation was formed under the laws of the State of Virginia as contained in Chapter 10 of Title 13.1 of the Code of Virginia. The Foundation qualifies as an exempt organization under Section 501©(3) of the Internal Revenue Code as a corporation organized and operated exclusively for charitable, scientific or educational purposes.

Gifts and bequests to the Commonwealth Long Term Care foundation, Inc. may be of an unrestricted nature for use in the area of greatest need, or they may be restricted for a specific project. The unrestricted gift to the Foundation is especially valuable as its flexibility allows the Foundation to apply these funds in current areas of need. Such funds are distributed at the discretion of the Foundation’s Board of Directors.

Current programs include:

Any employee of a VHCA member facility can apply for the $1,500 per year Regirer Nursing Scholarship. A Certified Nursing Assistant pursuing a LPN degree or a LPN pursing a RN degree is eligible. Recipients must demonstrate financial need, have a letter of acceptance from an accredited nurse training program, submit three letters of reference and agree to work at least one year in a VHCA member facility. Each applicant is interviewed by a member of the Nurse Scholarship Committee.

If you would like to support the Foundation, please use the contributor form (PDF | Online). Contributions to the Foundation are tax deductible. Checks in support of the Foundation may be either corporate of personal.

In 2007 the Foundation has awarded 33 scholarships $1500 each, totaling $49,500. There are still four more pending recipients upon receipt of an acceptance letter from their school.
