Members Benefit from Over $200M in Medicaid Funds from 2015-2018

Members Benefit from Over $200M in Medicaid Funds from 2015-2018

Earlier this week the General Assembly returned to Richmond for its reconvened session to consider Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s actions on the budget and other bills. The governor did not submit any amendments to the General Assembly affecting the $40 million in increased Medicaid funding for nursing centers for the next biennium (fiscal years (FYs) 2017-18).

Again, we are grateful that the governor and the General Assembly made such a significant investment in Medicaid funding for long term care services. Keep in mind that in addition to the inflationary gains made in this year’s budget, nursing centers are still benefiting from the full rebasing and inflation implemented in 2015.

For VHCA member centers, we estimate that the overall impact of the 2015 rebasing and subsequent inflation increases is over $200 million in additional Medicaid funds from 2015 through 2018.

In the coming days we will be sending members center-specific data modeling the impact of these budget actions for their center(s) in terms of Medicaid reimbursement increases for 2015-2018. Members with questions about this analysis, should contact Steve Ford, Senior Vice President for Policy and Reimbursement, at 804-212-1695 or steve.ford@vhca.org.
