The MDS Roadmap to Critical Components of Improved Clinical & Financial Outcomes (NF)

With many new changes, the impact the MDS has on patient care, public policy, and overall facility success is profound. When completed, the MDS will trigger CAA’s and calculate Quality Measures, Quality Reporting Program data, value-based purchasing data, PDPM Case Mix index, some state Case Mix, as well as impact state survey efforts. That’s a lot of dots to connect! As the MDS continues to evolve and impact reimbursement, this session explores how facilities can utilize live data to better manage these critical components of the post-acute reimbursement and alternate payment models while driving improved patient outcomes.

On January 6, 2025, the US Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Office of Civil Rights (OCR) published a proposed rule entitled, “HIPAA Security Rule to Strengthen the Cybersecurity of Electronic Health Regulation.” This proposed rule aims to reinforce OCR expectations for how healthcare providers and other covered entities are to maintain the security of protected health information in light of developments in technology and the management and transmission of such data in recent years. In this session, we will review the key takeaways from these updates and what they mean for healthcare providers and others. Specifically, we will discuss what the proposed rule indicates we should be doing to protect ourselves from cybersecurity and other threats to the privacy of sensitive patient information.
