What to know: Nearly every aspect of operations at nursing facility and assisted living facilities are influenced by the state and federal government. The government is a payer, regulator, and authority in licensing personnel.
- Our relationships with elected, appointed and career agency officials have a direct bearing on members’ ability to provide high quality and cost-effective long term care services across the Commonwealth.
A key goal of VHCA-VCAL’s strategic plan is to collaborate with the government as a strategic partner.
- Key strategies to achieve that goal are enhancing our advocacy effectiveness, formulating solutions-oriented policy solutions, and growing our Political Action Committee.
How to get involved:
- Join our grassroots efforts in the Advocate Action Center and get alerts on when to contact legislators about key pieces of legislation.
- Host a facility tour to help your legislators see firsthand the issues that affect the industry, and mostly importantly, see how their constituents are impacted by the decisions they make.
- Support VHCA PAC which provides contributions to candidates for the General Assembly who support the interests of LTC providers.
