Maurice Beaulieu Mr. Maurice “Buzz” Beaulieu was born near Boston and was the fourth of six children, with two brothers and three sisters. During World War II, both he and his older brother joined the service. The Navy was the first military branch to accept him to become a fighter pilot. He began his pre-flight training at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

During his career, Mr. Beaulieu flew different aircraft, including the Hellcat in World War II, the AD Skyraider in the Korean War, and later the Bearcraft. He served on 13 aircraft carriers. He retired as a Commander after 28 years. Mr. Beaulieu is proud of his silver medal and the 504 landings aboard the aircraft carriers…but, who’s counting!

Mr. Beaulieu met his wife, Jeanette in their hometown. Together they raised a daughter and two sons. They traveled extensively and the family moved 30 times in 28 years. After his retirement, he took up wood working and built grandfather clocks with his wife. He lost the love of his life after more than 50 years of marriage. Mr. Beaulieu enjoys reminiscing about their travels with his children, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He loves to watch sports, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.

Mr. Beaulieu was fortunate to survive battles of the World War II Pacific Theater and Korea, but he never forgets the brave sacrifices of his fellow comrades.
