Deborah Harvey Mrs. Deborah Miller Harvey was born in Lynchburg. She attended the Livingston and Madison Heights Elementary Schools, Central and Amherst County High Schools. She earned an associate of arts degree from Ferrum College as well as a bachelor of science degree from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Mrs. Harvey was married and had two children. She worked with students and families as an activity specialist at two girls group homes. Firs she worked at Florence Crittenton and then the City of Lynchburg from which she retired with 25 years of service.

As a resident at Accordius Health at Roanoke, she actively pursues and participates in every scheduled activity. “Story-Time Reading with Deborah” has become part of the weekly schedule. Her fellow residents listen attentively as she reads. Twice a week she reads to two bed-bound residents. She sacrifices her rest-time meet resident’s needs by providing comfort, laughter, and companionship to those who are unable to socialize with others.

Due of the success and the impact of Mrs. Harvey’s service, the activities department has launched Accordius Health Peer Support Community. After an extensive special assessment, two residents are paired, one who is mobile (by wheelchair, walker or self-ambulatory) and one who is bed bound. She has made a difference in the lives of the two residents and the greater culture at Accordius Health at Roanoke.
