Ms. Celia BarteauMs. Celia Barteau, a retired US Naval Captain, is a resident of Heatherwood Retirement Community. With a bachelor of science in chemistry from Illinois Technological Institute, she decided to follow the footsteps of both her parents and enlist in the military. Her first duty assignment was at the Naval Communications Annex in Washington DC. She went on to further her education to receive a masters of science in meteorology from the Post Naval Academy and was a Meteorologist stationed in Norfolk, VA. A lifelong student, Ms. Barteau completed all but her dissertation for a doctorate in oceanography. She was stationed on a Naval research vessel during part of her coursework.

Over the years Ms. Barteau has been struck five times with different cancers. With all these bumps in the road, therapy has been a part of her recovery. She believes therapy helps regain one’s strength and abilities to enjoy everyday life!
