Margaret ParkerA Roanoke native, Ms. Margaret Loretta Parker fondly recalls that she, “was raised in a Christian home by a very special mother and father who instilled hard work and commitment into me.” She worked for Allstate for 35 years. Miss Parker was recognized with the “Thinker’s Award” for suggesting improvements on how to handle workflow as well as the “Good Hands Award” for being an outstanding professional employee.

Miss Parker was admitted to the facility from the hospital nine years ago. At the time she couldn’t balance and was bedridden due to three cancer surgeries, two strokes and a heart attack. With therapy and a dedicated team supporting her, she can now take care of herself in the facility and is able to be independent in dressing.

In a turnaround from her arrival at the facility when she couldn’t participate in any activities, today Miss Parker serves as Rocky Mount Health and Rehab’s Resident Council President, volunteers, leads resident programs/activities, and holds her own devotional class for the residents. She has truly lived the values her parents instilled in her of hard work and commitment.
