Patricia Pokki, 71
Ms. Pokki’s life is a remarkable story of service, strength, and joy. She proudly served in the US Army for 24 years, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant before retiring from a successful military career.
She recently relocated to be closer to her son, a US Air Force Lieutenant Colonel, as well as her beloved grandchildren who attend Christopher Newport University and Virginia Tech—an opportunity that brings her great happiness.
Ms. Pokki’s journey has also been defined by extraordinary resilience. She survived four strokes, including one during pregnancy, facing each challenge with unwavering determination. Through intensive physical, occupational, and speech therapy, she reclaimed her strength and independence. Her recovery stands as a powerful testament to her courage and willpower.
Today, Ms. Pokki inspires everyone around her with her warm, happy-go-lucky spirit and genuine love for people. She is an active, cherished member of The Hidenwood Community, often assisting with bingo, trivia, and other activities that bring joy and connection to her fellow residents. Her uplifting presence, kind words, and steady encouragement brighten the lives of those who need it most.
