Tandra Wells, 34
For Tandra Wells, life at Bland Nursing & Rehab has been about more than medical care. It’s been about setting goals and achieving them. Ventilator-dependent and a resident since March 11, 2025, Tandra has faced incredible challenges. But one dream kept her motivated: seeing her son, Amaru Jackson, graduate from high school.
From the moment she shared this wish, Tandra worked tirelessly with her therapy team to make it happen. Every session was focused on building her strength and endurance so she could safely make the trip. “I wanted to do everything I could,” Tandra said. “I knew it would take work, but I wasn’t going to give up.” Her determination turned therapy into a mission, not just for herself, but for her family.
Behind the scenes, her loved ones were planning too. They wanted the day to be perfect, and the team at Bland partnered with them every step of the way. Together, they ensured Tandra had everything she needed—a beautiful dress, polished nails, and the confidence to enjoy the moment. It wasn’t just about transportation; it was about dignity, celebration, and love.
On graduation day, Tandra made the journey outside Charlotte and proudly watched as Amaru walked across the stage. Her radiant smile said it all. This was more than a trip; it was a victory. “I just wanted to be there for him,” she shared. “Thanks to everyone who believed in me, I got my wish.”
Tandra’s story is a powerful reminder that goals matter. With determination, teamwork, and family support, even the toughest obstacles can be overcome. At Bland Nursing & Rehab, caring for the human spirit means helping residents live their dreams. And Tandra’s dream was worth every effort.
