Terri Holloman, 56
Terri Holloman is known for being vibrant and full of life. She has been a resident at Riverside Lifelong Health & Rehab Warwick Forest (LLHR WF) since 2009.
The mother of two children, Terri loved to play board games and go dancing. She worked at a local hotel. She was very active at her church, Greater Works Ministry and was an volunteer with LINK, an organization that assists people with food and lodging.
Terri’s life changed in an instant when she was just 34 years old. She was involved in a terrible car accident in which she was paralyzed when the car she was riding in was hit from behind twice. Although she was not able to walk after her accident, Terri was able to work in fast food service at a mall.
At the age of 40 Terri came to live at LLHR WF. Undaunted by her disabilities, Terri has made her home at the facility and has resumed her valuable charitable work. Terri has become a very active resident volunteer at the facility. She delivers mail to her fellow residents. She leads our Prayer Warriors resident prayer program, which continues to grow, as well as a monthly Sunday worship service. She cooks at our resident cooking club. She sells raffle tickets at our semiannual resident and team member events. She welcomes new residents and often will visit them in their rooms and personally invites them to participate in events. Terri enjoys playing board games including Scrabble and dominos, She and a fellow resident lead Saturday afternoon bingo for other residents. She also assists fellow residents with filling out their weekly menu choices. Terri enjoys using the local Handi-Ride transit service to go out to dinner or shopping in the community. She enjoys visits from her family.
Terri has taken something unimaginably difficult and transformed it into a source of purpose and positivity. Her advice to anyone facing adversity is simple, powerful, and a reflection of how she lives her life every day: “Live your life no matter what. Don’t let disability stop you. You have to just keep going.”
