Cheryl Roberts to Lead DMAS
What’s new: Cheryl Roberts has been appointed director of the Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) after serving as interim director since May.
- Roberts served as the DMAS deputy director of program and operations for 15 years.
- VHCA-VCAL has congratulated Roberts on her new role and looks forward to a continued positive partnership with the agency under her leadership.
Zooming in: Roberts has spent her career in health care management.
- At DMAS she led Virginia Medicaid’s: Medallion- Managed Care program serving one million members through six managed care organizations, as well as dental services and operations and program integrity initiatives for Medicaid and CHIP.
- She also served in executive roles at Virginia Premier and EnblemHealth.
- She earned her law degree from Rutgers University School of Law – Newark and a bachelor degree in sociology form City University of New York.
