As facilities welcome resident families and friends for visits, you can use this CMS graphic to explain the expanded visitation options. While specific to nursing homes, remember that VDH and DSS guidance has followed CMS and CDC direction throughout the pandemic.

As a reminder, CMS’ Long-Term Care (LTC) Facility Testing Requirements for Staff and Residents are still in effect.

According to the updated CMS visitation guidance, facilities should allow responsible indoor visitation at all times and for all residents, regardless of vaccination status of the resident, or visitor, unless certain scenarios arise that would limit visitation. Read the full CMS press release and review the graphic in English and Spanish.
