On August 23, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services issued a notice explaining the agency has discovered technical coding problems adversely affecting the SNF Review and Correct Report and Confidential Feedback Report due for release in October.  Improper measures are being used in the calculation if one or more modification records are submitted for a patient stay.  The agency has shifted the upcoming data submission deadline dates and expects to correct the issue by early September.

Per the notice,

CMS is working on modifying the assessment measure data submission deadline dates for CY2017 quarters one, two, and three to coincide with the CY2017 Q4 deadline date of May 15, 2018. This means that all data for assessment based measures required in the SNF QRP in CY2017 will remain open to modifications until May 15, 2018. Additionally, we will apply this deadline for all quarters of reporting to the Fiscal Year 2019 (FY2019) annual payment update determinations as well. We anticipate that the data currently “frozen” as of August 15, 2017 to be subject to updates as of mid-September. We intend to issue another notice once the Review and Correct Report Q1 2017 SNF QRP data is accessible again.
