What’s new: DMAS has posted a bulletin explaining its implementation of the legislation HB 1681 and SB 1457).

• The bulletin describes the steps a nursing facility may take to initiate enrollment for LTSS NF services when an LTSS Screening was not performed prior to admission.

VHCA-VCAL advocated for the legislation and reviewed a draft of this bulletin to address those instances when screenings by the hospital screening teams did not occur or information is withheld by a patient or their responsible party, which subsequently lead to a nursing facility admitting a patient without a needed LTSS Screening prior to admission.
