According to a June 30 memo, VDH is seeking to schedule point prevalence surveys (PPS) by July 6 to meet the goal of completing PPS in all nursing facilities by mid-July. VDH has partnered with the Virginia National Guard to conduct one baseline facility-wide testing event per facility at no charge to the facility, staff, or residents. As a reminder, the reopening criteria for nursing facilities include a recommendation for facilities to conduct a baseline COVID-19 testing survey.

PPS results can be used to inform various infection prevention decisions such as resident placement and cohorting, transmission-based precautions, and work exclusions for staff.
