David Tucker, Mandy Gannon and Fred Stratmann joined Keith Hare for a series of meetings with members of the Virginia Congressional delegation on February 27. They met with staff from the offices of Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine as well as Rep. Don McEachin (D-VA-4), Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA-7) and Rep. Jennifer Wexton (D-VA-10). Discussions focused on the improvements in quality in skilled nursing facilities and Medicaid payment.

During the meetings with Sen. Warner’s staff, VHCA-VCAL also discussed abuse. VHCA-VCAL members emphasized that abuse is rare and that nursing facilities have robust regulations, policies, and procedures in place to prevent it. Warner is a member of a key Senate committee that is expected to hold a hearing on abuse in nursing homes next week.
