Sentara Nursing Center in Portsmouth held a celebration earlier this month to honor VHCA-VCAL’s 2017 Adult Volunteer of the Year Mrs. Augusta Baines. Mrs. Baines, who turns 102 today, continues to call residents at Sentara centers in Portsmouth and Virginia Beach to help them ward off loneliness.  The Virginian Pilot and WTKR, Hampton Road’s CBS affiliate, both covered the story.

Mrs. Baines was also honored by the city of Portsmouth which declared March, “Augusta Baines Month”.  VHCA-VCAL sends its warmest congratulations to Mrs. Baines.
