Quality Award Recipients Outperform Competitors

Did you know: AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award recipients outperform facilities that do not participate in the program in both CMS Five-Star Ratings and other quality metrics?

  • Commit to the Quality Award journey (and save money) by submitting your Intent-to-Apply via the Quality Award Portal by November 15  

 

Why it matters: By taking the time to complete the paperwork, make the commitment to the Quality Award journey, and implement systematic changes in quality care, centers are improving in national measures.

By the numbers: In analyzing results from AHCA/NCAL Quality Award winners, the ROI for the program is evident.   

  • 73 percent of Quality Award recipients earned 3-5 Stars in Survey, compared to 55 percent of the national average
  • 63 percent of Quality Award recipients earned 3-5 Stars in Staffing, compared to 49 percent of the national average  
  • 87 percent of Quality Award recipients earned 3-5 Stars in Quality Metrics, compared to 80 percent of the national average  
  • Quality Award recipients, compared to the national average, outperform non-award recipients by:
    • 1 percent in the occurrence of pressure ulcers  
    • 5 percent in the occurrence of urinary tract infections  
    • 2 percent in the prevention and measure of falls  
    • 10 percent in the measure of off-label use of antipsychotics
