Sentara Healthcare leaders have made a difficult decision to cease operating our subsidiary ambulance service, Medical Transport, LLC, and transition the company to a vendor.
After a thorough RFP process, Sentara has signed an agreement with Midwest Medical of Omaha, Nebraska to handle our ambulance transport needs in Hampton Roads. Midwest Medical is a dedicated ambulance company, currently operating in seven states with 300 vehicles and 1,500 employees.
We believe Midwest has the expertise, capacity and culture to assume our operation and employees and grow a service that meets our patient safety and customer service needs. They will operate in Hampton Roads under the name MMT Ambulance.
MMT ambulance will begin the transition in December 2021 with the expectation of becoming fully operational over the next several months. We hope you will welcome them to the market with your trust and your business.
We appreciate your patience and support as we work toward a smooth transition with a new, quality operator in the Hampton Roads ambulance transport market.
