VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates. 

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession. 

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of February 15, 2021.

• 2/16—Participated in a meeting with VDH and other LTC leaders to continue collaboration efforts for access to monoclonal antibodies in LTCFs
• 2/16—Attended the Virginia Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI) Advisory Group meeting.
• 2/16—Keith Hare was a co-presenter in Rep. Don McEachin’s (D-VA-4) COVID-19 Vaccine Townhall.
• 2/17—Participated in AHCA’s State Affiliate Policy Task Force meeting.
• 2/18—Participated in the biweekly COVID-19 Long Term Care Facility Task Force meeting.
• 2/19—Participated in the Dental Advisory Committee meeting to talk about the adult dental benefit development.
• 2/19—Participated in the VDH Vaccine Advisory Committee work group.
