VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates. 

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession. 

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of August 30, 2021.

• 8/30—Participated in AHCA/NCAL’s biweekly conference call for state affiliate staff.
• 8/30—Participated in the VDH Vaccine Advisory Committee work group.
• 8/31—Attended Claude Moore Scholars Annual Conference.
• 8/31 and 9/2—Participated in DMAS listening sessions on the rollout of the Medicaid adult dental benefits.
• 9/1—Participated in CMS’s Region III quarterly meeting for LTC stakeholders .
• 9/1—Hosted a meeting of the VHCA-VCAL Quality Improvement – VBP Task Force.
• 9/1—The VHCA-VCAL Nurse Scholarship Committee met to evaluate the 2021 scholarship applications.
• 9/2—Participated in the monthly DMAS call for nursing facility stakeholders.
• 9/2—Participated in the NCAL state affiliate staff monthly call.
