VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job. While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates.

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession. 

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of October 25, 2021.

• 10/25—Met with staff of the Joint Commission on Health Care to discuss the nursing facility workforce report.
• 10/26—Met with Jay Gittleson, Akiva Shapiro, and Justin Weinberg with Eastern Healthcare Group.
• 10/27—Hosted a meeting of the VHCA-VCAL Quality Improvement – VBP Task Force.
• 10/27—Hosted a SMART user training session for members.
• 10/27—Attended a political fundraiser for Sen. Monty Mason (D-Williamsburg).
• 10/27—Attended a meeting of the Board of Long Term Care Administrators.
• 10/28—Participated in the VDH COVID-19 Long Term Care Facility Task Force meeting.
• 10/28—Attended an open house for Berea Health & Rehab.
