VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates. 

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession. 

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of May 16, 2022.

• 5/16-18—Attended the AHCA/NCAL Quality Summit.
• 5/15—Attended a political fundraiser for Sen. Creigh Deeds (D-Bath).
• 5/18—Monitored the Joint Commission on Health Care meeting.
• 5/18—Participated in a meeting for AHCA/NCAL state affiliate leaders on the association’s strategic goals.
• 5/18-20—Attended a conference hosted by HPSI, VHCA-VCAL’s endorsed group purchasing partners.
• 5/19—Participated in AHCA/NCAL’s bi-weekly call with state affiliates to discuss media and public relations resources.
• 5/20—Attended a meeting of DMAS’s Dental Advisory Committee.
• 5/20—Met with leaders from Ballad Health to discuss VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy priorities.
