VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates. 

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession. 

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of August 13, 2018.

• 8/13—Participated in a webinar for NCAL state affiliate staff to learn more about the new Assisted Living Cost Calculator.
• 8/14—Participated in the CCC Plus Nursing Facility Care Coordination call.
• 8/15—Participated in the biweekly CCC Plus claims processing conference calls with Virginia Premier and Anthem.
• 8/14—Attended a political fundraiser for Sen. Mamie Locke (D-Hampton).
• 8/15—Met with DMAS to discuss the nursing facility pre-admission screening process.
• 8/15— Participated in the biweekly CCC Plus claims processing conference calls with Magellan and United.
• 8/15—Participated in the a meeting of AHCA’s Reimbursement Committee.
• 8/16—Attended a political fundraiser for Del. Luke Torian (D-Woodbridge).
• 8/16—Participated in the biweekly CCC Plus claims processing conference calls with Aetna, Anthem, and Optima.
• 8/16—Attended the Virginia Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI) Advisory Group meeting.
