Advocacy is a year-round job.
- There’s much more to advocacy than lobbying during the General Assembly session.
- The meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates for our members.
Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of February 26, 2024.
- 2/26—Met with Del. Mark Sickles (D-Fairfax) and House Appropriations Committee staff to discuss VHCA-VCAL’s budget priorities.
- 2/26—Participated in calls with DMAS, United, and Aetna to discuss Optional State Assessment (OSA) claims issues.
- 2/27—Participated in a call with DMAS and Molina to discuss OSA claims issues.
- 2/27—Met with Sen. Creigh Deeds (D-Charlottesville) to discuss VHCA-VCAL’s budget priorities.
- 2/29—186 individuals attended the WYNTK: 2023 Virginia Survey Trends education program.
- 2/29—Attended AHCA’s PDPM Work Group meeting.
- 2/29—Attended a DMAS town hall on rebasing of nursing facility reimbursement rates effective July 1, 2024.
- Met with Del. Rob Bloxom (R-Accomack), Sen. Louise Lucas (D-Portsmouth), Sen. Mamie Locke (D-Hampton), and Sen. Ryan McDougle (R-Hanover) to discuss VHCA-VCAL’s budget priorities.
- 3/1—Met with Del. Betsy Carr (D-Richmond) to discuss VHCA-VCAL’s budget priorities.
