Advocacy is a year-round job.

• There’s much more to advocacy than lobbying during the General Assembly session.
• The meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates for our members.

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of December 2, 2025.

• 12/3—Met with the Virginia Deputy Secretaries of Health and Human Resources to discuss VHCA-VCAL’s legislative and policy priorities.
• 12/3—Attended the Board of Long Term Care Administrators meeting.
• 12/3-4—Attended the fall technical session of the American Society of Health Care Administration Executives for AHCA/NCAL state affiliate leaders.
• 12/4—Participated in the AHCA/NCAL professional development work group meeting.
• 12/5—Participated in the monthly NCAL call for state affiliate staff and the AHCA/NCAL emergency preparedness/life safety committee meetings.
• 12/5—Represented long term care providers at a meeting of the VDH Virginia Disaster Medical Advisory Committee.
