VHCA-VCAL This Week

VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates.

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession.  Take a look at our activities this week:

  • 4/25—Discussed how the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association, VHCA-VCAL and LeadingAge could work together to reduce hospital readmissions through improved engagement with post-acute providers.
  • 4/25—Met with representatives of Magellan to discuss the request for proposal for the Medicaid Managed Long Term Services and Support program.
  • 4/25—Joined the AHCA’s monthly quality network conference call.
  • 4/25—Attended a political fundraiser for Sen. Ryan McDougle (R-Hanover).
  • 4/26—Participated in the informational webinar on the Long Term Care Mutual Aid Plan.
  • 4/27—Joined a webinar on preferred skilled nursing center networks.
  • 4/28—Joined a conference call on the National Partnership to Improve Dementia Care and QAPI.
  • 4/28—Attended a political fundraiser for Del. Charniele Herring (D-Alexandria).
  • 4/28—Participated in the CMS Open Door Forum call to learn more about the Nursing Home Compare quality measures.
  • 4/28—VHCA President & CEO Keith Hare visited Bob DeMaria at the Mt. Vernon Nursing and Rehab Center.
  • 4/28—Mandy Gannon and the Burke Health and Rehabilitation Center hosted the Northern District meeting.
  • 4/29—VHCA-VCAL hosted a meeting of the Richmond District, chaired by Derrick Kendall of Lucy Corr Village.
