Assistant Administrator (Sterling, VA)

Potomac Falls Health & Rehab Center, in Sterling, VA has a career opportunity for a dynamic Assistant Administrator to assist the Nursing Home Administrator in directing day-to-day functions and overall operation of the Center including regulatory compliance, financial management, and quality assurance, maintaining positive resident, family and employee relations and maintaining a positive professional relationship with all regulatory agencies.

Successful service excellence candidates will have the following qualifications and ability to:
• Develop and maintain Center objectives to assure maximum utilization of Center resources, stability of staff, regulatory compliance and achievement of financial goals. Must be comfortable hiring, training and terminating employees. The assistant must ensure that licensure requirements are met for each employee, that employees attend regular in-service training and that employees are informed of and following internal policies and procedures. The assistant may be required to participate in employee discipline.
• Responsible for providing quality resident care services that, at a minimum, meet state and federal guidelines.
• Responsible for operating the Center in compliance with established company policies and procedures. Ensures Center is survey ready at all times.
• Promotes corporate compliance and instills in all staff the value of corporate compliance and promotes compliance in all aspects of the operation.
• Recommends policy and procedure changes that are beneficial to the Center.
• Provides and maintains an environment that enhances the quality of life for residents residing in the Center.
• Assists administrator in developing annual operating budgets for approval and implements approved budget in the Center.
• Purchases and operates within the approved budget.
• Maintains Center census and directs efforts to attain census goals.
• Collects receivables according to policy.
• Ensures that personnel maintain financial controls through accurate record keeping, expense control monitoring, and the timely provision of information and reports.
• Co-Chairs or is back-up for administrator in morning “stand up” meetings to monitor residents and Center operations on a twenty four hour basis.
• Reviews the status of residents and participates in care planning meetings with professional staff and the attending physician in order to provide maximum resident care and optimum use of services.
• Directs the implementation of authorized human resources policies and procedures and handles employee grievances promptly.
• Follows up on all complaints and takes necessary action to control or to prevent the recurrence of such dissatisfaction.
• Ensures that the building, equipment, facilities, and other physical aspects of the Center are protected and maintained in good condition.
• Acts as a liaison between the Center and the outside community. This includes participation in public events, attendance at board or county meetings and meeting with department directors on a regular basis. This position demands strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain a public relations program designed to serve the best interests of the Center and its surrounding community.
• Directs the requisitioning and control of all materials and supplies needed to maintain authorized inventory levels.
• Obtains needed agreements and contracts and obtains corporate approval if appropriate.
• Establishes and enforces adequate safety, fire and accident programs. Assures that staff is trained in all programs and procedures.
• Leads by example and is engaged in the Service Excellence Initiative of the Center.
• Keeps the Administrator informed of all pertinent information relating to the Center through verbal communication and a monthly written operations report.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
• Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree.
• Licensed as Virginia Nursing Home Administrator. Candidate meets this qualification if he/she is eligible for Virginia licensure and receives a Virginia Nursing Home Administrators license within ninety (90) days of hire.
• Experience in nursing home administration preferred. Must have a strong working knowledge and understanding of the State and Federal regulations.
• Must maintain continuing educations hours as required by the Virginia Board of Nursing Home Administrators.
• Must possess strong leadership, organization, communication and management skills and be able to conduct meetings and in-service training sessions.
• Proven success in mentoring, developing and promoting employees.
