VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates.

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession.  Take a look at our activities this week:

• 8/9—Brad Dalton of American HealthCare, LLC and Amy Hewett joined the monthly AHCA Public Education and Communication Committee conference call.
• 8/10—Attended the initial steering committee meeting for the 2017 Governor’s Conference on Aging.
• 8/10—Met with Del. Scott Garrett (R-Lynchburg) and Del. Kathy Byron (R-Campbell) in Lynchburg.
• 8/10—Visited with Becky Martin and Tracey Jennings at The Summit Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lynchburg.
• 8/10—Attended a political fundraiser for Sen. Bill Carrico (R-Grayson).
• 8/11—Met with Del. Joseph Yost (R-Pearisburg), Del. Nick Rush (R-Christiansburg), and Del. Chris Head (R-Roanoke).
