New tool: AHCA’s Clinical Practice Committee has published a new resource to support members in training and educating contracted staff.

• The Clinical Competency Profile allows facilities to develop an initial competency profile of any new contract staff (agency, traveler) or licensed nurses (Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse).
• Facilities can then utilize the competency profile to provide additional training and skills where needed.

The tool includes a scoring key for nurses to rate their level of experience and/or skill competence on:

• medication/therapeutic interventions
• procedures/equipment
• use of electronic medical record software
• cardiovascular, metabolic, and gastrointestinal, immunology, musculoskeletal, neurological, pulmonary, renal, and wound care.
