VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates. 

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession. 

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of July 31, 2017.  

• 7/31—Participated in the DMAS CCC Plus Provider Q&A conference call.
• 7/31—Joined the weekly AHCA/NCAL legislative update conference call. 8/1—Over 60 attendees participated in the CMS Emergency Preparedness Rule: From Assessment to Readiness education program. 
• 8/1—Met with representatives of CommuniCare.
• 8/2—Keith Hare attended the Association of State Health Care Association Executives in Boston with his peers from other AHCA/NCAL state affiliates.
• 8/3—Met with Remedi SeniorCare.
• 8/3—Matt Mansell and April Payne toured Lucy Corr Village with Paula Margolis, a senior health policy analyst with the Joint Commission on Health Care as part of the commission’s study on assisted living staffing. 
• 8/3—Participated in the monthly NCAL state affiliate conference call.
• 8/4—Participated in a CCC Plus Nursing Facility Claims Status Call hosted by DMAS.
