VHCA-VCAL This Week

The Virginia Health Care Association’s (VHCA) advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job. While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates.

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession. Take a look at our activities this week:

  • 12/7—Met with Sen. George Barker (D-Fairfax) to discuss VHCA’s legislative priorities.
  • 12/7—Participated in the steering committee meeting for the upcoming Governor’s Conference on Aging.
  • 12/8—Met with Del. Dickie Bell (R-Staunton) to discuss the upcoming General Assembly session.
  • 12/8—Attended the Department of Medical Assistance Services Board meeting.
  • 12/9—Matt Mansell provided a legislative update at the Roanoke District meeting.
  • 12/10—Convened a joint meeting of the Managed Care and Payment for Services Committees during which Department of Medical Assistance Services staff addressed questions about MLTSS, DSRIP, and CMS waivers for these programs.
  • 12/10—Participated in the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association’s Allied Healthcare Summit.
  • 12/10—Attended the No Wrong Door Resource Advisory Council Meeting.
