Senate Announces COPN Subcommittee

capitalSenate Education and Health Committee Chairman Sen. Steve Newman (R-Lynchburg) announced that he has established a special subcommittee to hear the House-passed certificate of public need (COPN) bills.  Sen. Newman will chair the panel.  Additional senators on the subcommittee include: Sen. Dick Saslaw (D-Fairfax), Sen. Louise Lucas (D-Portsmouth), Sen. George Barker (D-Fairfax), Sen. Bill Carrico (R-Grayson), Sen. Siobhan Dunnavant (R-Henrico), and Sen. Amanda Chase (R-Chesterfield).

Sen. Newman has yet to announce a meeting date for the subcommittee to consider HB193 and HB350.  Earlier in the session, the Education and Health Committee carried over senators’ COPN-related legislation.
