VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates. 

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession. 

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of February 21, 2022.    

• 2/22—38 individuals attended the Journey to Wellness: Integrating Employee Wellness into an Organizations Cultural Framework webinar led by Kathleen Weissberg, education director with Select Rehabilitation, Inc.
• 2/22—Participated in a meeting for AHCA/NCAL’s Regional Multifacility Council.
• 2/23—Met with Kissito Healthcare to discuss Value-Based Purchasing.
• 2/24—38 individuals attended the Deconditioning and Reconditioning: Addressing Resident Health & Wellness Post-Pandemic webinar led by Kathleen Weissberg with Select Rehabilitation, Inc.
• 2/24—Participated in AHCA/NCAL’s monthly call with state affiliate staff to discuss media and public relations resources.

• 2/24—Participated in a meeting hosted by DMAS on the Inter-rater Reliability Study (IRR) study.
• 2/24—Participated in the VDH Strike Force Funding meeting.
