What’s happening: Subcommittees in both the House of Delegates and Virginia Senate are scheduled to hold hearings on legislation that will impose significant new sanctions on nursing homes.

We need your help contacting legislators today to let them know we oppose the bills, SB 1383 and HB 2253, because the VDH Office of Licensure and Certification already has extensive authority to oversee nursing homes.

• Additionally, we do not feel that nursing homes should be threatened with additional sanctions and monetary penalties especially when the state cannot meet its current obligations to assess quality of care through a timely federal survey and state licensure process.
