Advocacy is a year-round job.

• There’s much more to advocacy than lobbying during the General Assembly session.
• The meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates for our members.

• 7/15-19—Hosted the week-long Introduction to Activity Management in Long Term Care course.
• 7/16—Hosted a meeting of Payment for Services Committee.
• 7/16—Participated in a monthly meeting with DMAS and VHCA-VCAL leadership.
• 7/17—Attended the Joint Commission on Health Care meeting.
• 7/17—The Nominating Committee met.
• 7/18—Attended the monthly call for AHCA/NCAL public relations/communications professionals.
• 7/18—Attended a workgroup meeting on legislation passed earlier this year on civil commitments and temporary detention orders for individuals with mental illness, neurocognitive disorders, and neurodevelopmental disabilities.
• 7/18—The Wellington at Lake Manassas hosted the Northern District meeting.
