ICYMI: WTVR, the Richmond CBS affiliate, and McKnight’s Long Term Care News reported this week on the Virginia nursing home staffing standard and the uncertainty surrounding its implementation since the Youngkin administration has failed to issue regulations for enforcement and Medicaid funding has not been appropriated for the additional direct care staff costs.

VHCA-VCAL issued statements to both outlets, including this as reported by McKnights:  

“The Youngkin administration has failed to deliver on the promise made to Virginia seniors to create the regulatory framework for the staffing standard and the related funding obligations to pay for the nurses and CNAs providing 24/7 care. VHCA-VCAL is concerned that Gov. Youngkin is not making senior care a real priority.”
