In the news: Residents of Lakewood are spending time with horses and other animals as part of the Fox Moon Farm Project’s Equine Elders Dementia Program.

• WRIC, the Richmond ABC affiliate, highlighted a therapy program designed to reduce anxiety and stress for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease in a recent feature.

Reaping the benefits: Lakewood’s executive director Heather Crumbaugh noted in the story that Lakewood is monitoring residents who participate in the program to see if their symptoms or medication needs can be reduced.

• She explained, “Our residents are always excited to come and get on the bus and get out here. We don’t want to just keep them in a safe environment and keep them busy with fun activities, we want to provide purposeful living.”
