VHCA-VCAL’s advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates.

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA-VCAL staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession.

Take a look at our outreach and advocacy work for the week of June 12, 2017.    

• 6/13—Met with the CMS Regional Office in Philadelphia to discuss quality issues.
• 6/13—Over 70 attended the Life Safety Compliance Training and the Fire Door Inspection Certification presented by Roy LeNeave in Richmond.
• 6/13—Attended the quarterly Board of Medical Assistance Services meeting.
• 6/14—Harbor’s Edge hosted the Tidewater District meeting where Steve Ford presented CCC & CCC Plus Update.
• 6/14—Attended the CCC Plus Advisory Committee.
• 6/15—Attended a political fundraiser for Sen. Richard Stuart (R-Westmoreland County).
• 6/15—Hosted the quarterly Nursing Facility Advisory Committee (NFAC) meeting.
• 6/15—Attended the joint meeting of the House Appropriations and Senate Finance Committee’s Health and Human Resources subcommittees.
• 6/15—Hosted the Richmond District meeting where Matt Mansell presented a recap on the 2017 General Assembly session and April Payne discussed the revisions to the assisted living regulations.
