The Code of Virginia (§32.1-35.1) requires health care facilities that are required to report information about healthcare-associated infections to the CDC National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) pursuant to CMS reporting requirements shall release that data to VDH. In order for VDH to see the COVID-19 data being reported to NHSN, facilities should confer rights to the VDH NHSN group that is managed by the Healthcare-Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance (HAI/AR) Program.

VDH has posted a memo from Commissioner of Health Dr. Norman Oliver as well as instructions for nursing homes to join the VDH NHSN group on the LTC Task Force webpage.
