General Assembly Continues to Work Through Budget Issues

general assembly building on a sunny dayThe General Assembly’s budget negotiators have not finalized their work on the two-year state budget as they debate the amount of revenue to be spent. The session’s target adjournment date is March 12. VHCA-VCAL continues to touch base with key legislators on the importance of providing more resources for Medicaid.

Budget negotiators will continue to work on the areas of disagreement between the House of Delegates and Senate proposals in the coming days. Reports indicate that legislators may be called back next week to vote on the full budget package if compromise is reached in the coming days.

VHCA-VCAL is awaiting news on the resolution of the different House and Senate approaches to Medicaid nursing facility funding. Although both budgets include funding for the Medicaid forecasts, which includes the regulation-driven inflationary adjustment for Medicaid nursing center services, differences remain in funding for the Medicaid Nursing Facility Value-Based Purchasing Program and related language.
