On-line registration is now open for the April 6 education program, Medication Management: The Impact on Quality.

 The program offers 5.5 hours of continuing education for nursing center and assisted living administrators. To maximize a resident’s health and overall well-being, sound medication management practices are critical. You are constantly challenged to stay on top of a wide-range of issues facing your residents—from dementia, to dialysis, to pain management, to end-of-life care and non-pressure skin ulcers—all while keeping quality at the forefront of all you do. This day-long program includes a series of lectures from geriatric pharmacy experts who will share their insights on medication management related to these quality issues.

The morning sessions provide approaches to providing the care necessary to allow your residents to attain their highest practicable levels of well-being. Case studies will be used to illustrate individualized solutions.

In addition, as antibiotic use has come under intense scrutiny due to in part to studies which suggested they are overused and poorly managed, you’ll learn how misuse of antibiotics can have profound clinical implications for residents and adversely affect the “regulatory health” the centers where they are administered. Lastly, you’ll hear how to address the potential clinical, regulatory, and operational challenges of medication management associated with the use of electronic health records (EHRs).
